The Art of Curating: bortoluka

Art of curating banner

The Art of Curating is a continuation of the Curator Knows Best blog series on the Sporcle Blog. The series features opinions, top-notch quizzes and quizmakers, bits of trivia, and even a joke at the end from Sporcle’s great curators.

bortolukaThis week, we feature bortoluka, curator of Superhero.

How did you first get involved with Sporcle?
The first time I came across Sporcle, it was accidentally: I was searching for the name of a comic character, and found instead a list of names to guess. I found myself caught in the world of quizzes, I devoured the quizzes by Sepa first, but my hunger rather than satisfied, increased. I started therefore to hunt quizzes from the Marvel subcategory and the neighboring subcategories, conquering thereafter undiscovered lands (and badges).

Why did you decide to be a curator for your subcategory?
For a balancing between yin and yang, I felt compelled to give my contribution in quiz-making. And after experiencing the pleasure of seeing these quizzes played and picked, I decided to support other users by curating a subcategory I love, superhero.

What’s your favourite trivia fact having to do with you subcategory?
Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, Professor X, Black Panther and hundreds of other heroes are all offspring of the same father: Stan “the Man” Lee.

What are some of your favourite published quizzes from your subcategory?
One of my favorite quiz is the mismatched click of Marvel and DC characters by stevenmiller61. I want to recommend also the Marvel Picture Finds playlist by MitchellGoosen, containing many published quizzes interesting for both die-hard nerds and casual players.

What are some of your favourite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?
Among the contributed quizzes, I want to mention the map quizzes in the DC Picture Finds playlist by ddd62291. I’d like also to suggest another quiz I recently picked: the Superhero Alphabet by freddie3000.

What are your favourite quizzes from an entirely different category?
I love the games about Sporcle, like this by kfastic, and I cannot wait for updates in the playlist about soccer cities by LabinotHarbuzi.

Which Sporcle Group do you frequent most often?
I’ve learned a lot from the How to group, while I’m now often keeping an eye on the contests and collaborations page.

How can Sporclers in your subcategory best contact you?
I welcome everybody to write me on the message page.

Are there any Sporclers whose quizzes you think merit more attention than they get?
The short answer is “yes”, the long one is a list of hundreds of users. Not to totally escape the question, I’ll confess a (too) short list of names: Thebiguglyalien, HappyWife, and CGMFan1.

Haiku or favourite Dad Joke (or both):
Batman doesn’t make New Year’s Resolutions. He enforces them.

Thanks for the interview bortoluka!
