Hello, Sporcleverse readers, welcome to another week of Trifecta Talk. Today, we’ll have a bit of a chat with the Language editor: Flick. Flick has been an editor longer than anyone else besides Hejman and is still actively playing, editing and making quizzes to this day. He has also made more quizzes than anyone, even sproutcm (5,523 to 5,499). Ironically, the language editor produced one of the shorter Trifecta Talks, but like the Hemingway of the Sporcleverse, much meaning goes into every word :-)
When did you first start quiz making and how long did it take you to earn the Big Three?
I started making quizzes in 2009 and got my ‘Big Three’ when the ‘Honor Roll’ was introduced in October 2015
What was your first ever pick and what was your reaction? What about your first publish?
Not too sure about the first pick I received, but as it is better to give than receive … my first EP was to Government_Agent for this one: Homophones. My first publish took three months, my second another three months.
What category did you struggle with the most? Which one was the easiest?
I struggled (and still struggle) with anything entertainment based mostly, I love the literacy quizzes
Who helped you, or inspired you, the most to earn these badges?
My friend LTH deserves a huge shout out, but many others have helped and inspired me over the years.
Did you actively try to earn any of the badges? If so, when and why did you start?
I actively try to earn all of the badges, just a few still elude me – but never say never.
What is the most rewarding part of making quizzes?
Thinking of an idea. The quiz making gets easier as you go. Waking up with a possible idea is great (finding out it has already been thought of … less so).
Which of your published quizzes are you the proudest of?
Always the first and the last, I can feel the tingles.
Any advice for would-be badge earners/quizmakers?
Badge earners – No! Many others are much more qualified.
Quizmakers – If one person enjoys your game … it was worth making it :)
Thanks again for the interview, Flick! Still being able to put creative thinking towards quizzes after nine or so years is something that very, very few Sporclers have managed, and I think the whole site is grateful for that. Plus, you can actually finish series, which is something I don’t think I’ll ever master…
