The Art of Curating is a continuation of the Curator Knows Best blog series on the Sporcle Blog. The series features opinions, top-notch quizzes and quizmakers, bits of trivia, and even a joke at the end from Sporcle’s great curators.
How did you first get involved with Sporcle?
My girlfriend found the website; she knew how much I like to play quizzes and she introduced me the site. After I played two or three quizzes I created an account and haven’t stopped since then. After I created the first quizzes it was clear to me that I would continue to use this amazing website for a long time.
Why did you decide to be a curator for your subcategory?
I am a big fan of tennis since I was a kid and when I saw the subcategory without a curator made me a little bit sad, but I was not courageous enough to apply right away because I didn’t feel that I am the right person for this job. After a few days, I saw that the subcategory still had no curator and finally clicked that apply button.
What’s your favourite trivia fact having to do with you subcategory?
The match between Isner and Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon took more than 11 hours of play over three days. It is the longest tennis match in history and the final set alone was longer than the previous longest match.
What are some of your favourite published quizzes from your subcategory?
I enjoy #1 Ranked Tennis Players by Derek, and because I like to see visual quizzes I would also like to point out Tennis Players by brocko and Celebrities at Wimbledon by olliek.
What are some of your favourite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?
I really like every quiz I gave a curator pick to, so it’s hard to pick only some of them but I’ll try. Tennis: In or Out by jwalsh101, Sports Illustrated Tennis Covers by MoMosMoProblems and Tennis Players Serving by Quiztopia should definitely be mentioned here.
Which Sporcle Group do you frequent most often?
Usually I visit the Recent Discussions and I read almost everything from the groups which is not related to The Game Room even I don’t post or comment very often.
How can Sporclers in your subcategory best contact you?
They can send me a message anytime on the website.
Are there any Sporclers whose quizzes you think merit more attention than they get?
There are a lot of great quiz makers which don’t have many published quizzes yet and I won’t say any names right now because for sure I’ll forget someone. I’m very positive that they will get more and more attention as the time passes.
Haiku or favourite Dad Joke (or both):
Who refereed the tennis match between Caesar and Mark Anthony?
A Roman Umpire.
